We need to see that change is made in this country. Too many injustices happen in this modern age. Racism is all too real in this country and shouldn't be stood for by it's citizens, let alone our government.
I stand with the Protesters of the George Floyd murder in solidarity.
I was "fortunate" because I'm white and was able to hide my gayness most of my professional life. I hid, not because I wasn't proud of who I was, but because I would not be afforded the same opportunities by those who judged me. I will not deny my privilege as a white man as doing so would make me ignorant, like so many Americans today.
Black and Brown Americans shouldn't have to fear because of their skin tone just as I shouldn't have to fear because of my sexuality, but it is an unfortunate truth.
Black and Brown Americans shouldn't have to fear that they won't be afforded the same possibilities as white Americans simply for the color of their skin.
Black and Brown Americans shouldn't have to fear law enforcement when they are included in the body that said police are supposed to protect.
Just as I stand for my own rights, I stand with my people, Americans! Black, Brown, White, Gay, Straight, Trans, Etc... we should not have labels in the eyes of the law.
The Constitution needs to be amended, not to add protections for it's citizens but to take out the protections for those with power.
The Constitution should not require an amendment to add non-discrimination polices, it should be amended to say that Any and All Discrimination is illegal in the eyes of the law.
As an American I see the progress that has been made, but it is not enough!
We need to Demilitarize the police and hold them at a higher standard than the average citizen. If we give you a gun, you should be willing to uphold equal protection for all people!
As the Pledge of Allegiance states, "With Liberty and Justice for All!"
